The 2015 Earth Flag & Earth Day Gala

Earth Flag Signing in Toronto, April 22, 2015

Dear Earth Day Canada friends,

In this issue, June 2015, Earth Day Canada is happy to report that we have collected ~25,000 signatures from students across the country on our 2015 Earth Flag. Illustrating the collective resolve of people across the country to reduce carbon, we will take the 2015 Earth Flag to Paris in December where countries will meet to sign a new climate agreement. Everyone is welcome to sign the Earth Flag and can do so digitally on our website or in-person at one of many Earth Flag signing events over the summer. We are also encouraging people to become Earth Flag Heroes and help us collect signatures either online through social media, or by downloading our Earth Flag toolkit to take to local events. Our goal is 1 million signatures by the end of November 2015.

Every day at the office we eagerly await the mail courier and rip open the dozens of packages carrying the colourful and creative swatches of fabric schools have designed to collect signatures that will contribute to our final Earth Flag 2015. We will unveil the final Earth Flag at a public event late fall and will invite those representing us in Paris to be the final signatories to the flag.

Please note, the Earth Day Canada Gala will not be held on June 11th this year as we will be unveiling the Earth Flag in the Fall and intend provide a sneak preview at a fall Gala.  Chef Michael Stadtländer will be on hand to serve up a Fall harvest and once again, our Hometown Hero award winners will be announced.  We will be circulating a save the date in the next Earth Tones!

Help us make a splash in Paris and let's make history!

Sincerely,

Deb Doncaster
President, Earth Day Canada
