Dear Earth Day Canada friends,

There is a big push to support carbon reduction in 2015 leading up to the International Climate Conference in Paris in December. 2015 marks the mid-way point of the critical decade where, by 2020, we need to be on course to global emission reductions.

Earth Day Canada has devoted this issue of Earth Tones to the key things you can do to show you care about climate change.

We are asking people across the country to sign the 2015 Earth Flag, sign the Global Petition “Road to Paris”, and vote for candidates who care about the environment from all parties in the Federal Election this fall.

Last week in Toronto, the Ontario Government hosted the Climate Summit of the Americas which brought together over 300 leaders from government, business and civil society, with many more participating in events on the margins. One of the summit’s key achievements is a Climate Action Statement signed by Ontario and 22 other states and regions, signalling a growing Pan-American consensus on the urgency of fighting climate change ahead of the United Nations’ Climate Conference of the Parties.

It’s your turn to have your commitment recognized - sign the Earth Flag and be represented in Paris!

Sincerely,

Deb Doncaster
President, Earth Day Canada

Have your voice heard in Paris.

Have your voice heard in Paris

Justin Trudeau has done it – Elizabeth May has done it – Al Gore has done it.

Premiers Kathleen Wynne of Ontario and Brian Gallant from New Brunswick, the Ontario Environment and Climate Change Minister, Glenn Murray, Toronto Mayor John Tory, tens of thousands of school children and people across Canada have all signed the Earth Flag! They took the pledge:

“I pledge to make Earth Day Every Day and reduce my carbon footprint.”

Sign the Earth Flag online here.

The 2015 Earth Flag will be a huge and beautiful symbol illustrating Canada's commitment to addressing climate change. Featuring signatures from people across the country, the flag will be taken to the International Climate Conference in Paris later this year.

Thanks to our partners, and the 50,000 flag signatories and YOU for supporting the 2015 Earth Flag.
