The Earth Day Canada Gala is an opportunity for environmental, business, community and political leaders to come together, celebrate recent accomplishments, network and have fun! This year, we’re fundraising for our new EarthPLAY program, which puts outdoor free play back into childhood.
We anticipate more than 400 guests at the newly renovated Mill Street Brew Pub, where Fresh City Farms will provide innovative, playful (and of course seasonal) tapas and finger foods while Turbo Street Funk — known for their charismatic tunes and colourful footwear — provide the entertainment.
More details on our VIP guests, partners and raffle prizing to come!
This year, we will be presenting awards for environmental leadership in the following categories: Individual, Group, Teacher, Small Business, and Youth.
This year, we are pleased to present the award to Silken Laumann, four-time Olympian, three-time medalist, life coach, child advocate and award-winning author of the books Unsinkable and Child’s Play: Rediscovering the Joy of Play in Our Families and Communities.
This year, our keynote speaker will be Governor General’s Award-winning author Kenneth Oppel.
And our emcee for the evening will be Hannah Alper, the tenacious eco-warrior and ambassador for Free the Children.
The objective of EarthPLAY is to put self-directed outdoor play back into the day-to-day lives of children. EarthPLAY encompasses a broad spectrum of projects that address play provision in schools, childcare centres, parks, streets and other community green spaces, highlighting the importance of freely chosen outdoor play as a vital determinant of health and social wellbeing.
“A BIG THANK YOU for hosting such a fabulous event. I had a great time, enjoyed great food, great music, great comedy and made valuable business contacts. Fantastic!”

“As a sustainability practitioner in Toronto, I’ve been to many green events. The Earth Day Canada event is by far one of the best and most fun events I’ve ever been to. Great networking, perfect venue, amazing local food, and a chance to celebrate outstanding environmental achievements in this country – what more could you ask for!”
