Project Manager – Plantations

Earth Day Canada is actively seeking a Project Manager for Plantations to contribute significantly to “Demain la forêt – Infrastructures vertes” This scientific project aims to explore the impact of diverse tree and shrub plantations in riparian zones in Quebec on climate change mitigation and adaptation. Under the supervision of the Plantations Director, the selected individual will play a central role in mobilizing riparian zones owners and coordinating plantations. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Persuade targeted landowners in Quebec to participate in the Demain la Forêt project;
  • Obtain letters of intent from owners wishing to participate in the project;
  • Plan visits before and after plantations;
  • Contribute to the development of management plans;
  • Prepare agreements for riparian zones owners and planting organizations;
  • Define equipment needs;
  • Coordinate the delivery of equipment;
  • Ensure the completion of all required steps for planting and maintaining plantations.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in forestry or another relevant field;
  • Strong project management skills and adherence to deadlines;
  • Ability to collaborate with various stakeholders;
  • Proficiency in office software (Excel, Word) and geomatics (QGIS);
  • Previous experience in the plantation sector is a valuable advantage;
  • Strong ability to manage priorities and a keen sense of initiative;
  • Comfortable problem-solving skills;
  • Strong team spirit;
  • Identification of tree and shrub species is an asset;
  • Valid driver’s license.

Working Conditions:

  • Salary: between $23.50/hour and $26/hour according to the salary scale;
  • Schedule: 35 hours/week;
  • Location: Montreal, with the possibility of telecommuting;
  • Travel: occasional within the metropolitan area of Montreal from spring to fall;
  • Duration: 1 year, with the possibility of renewal;
  • Start date: as soon as possible;
  • Phone reimbursement ($40/month);
  • Group insurance after 3 months;
