Representing And Inspiring Municipalities In The Ecological Transition

The Mobilizing Municipalities movement highlights and supports cities that take action for a more sustainable future. Each year, one municipality is selected to represent the movement, with its mayor serving as the spokesperson, embodying the commitment of communities to fighting climate change and driving the ecological transition.

On April 22, for Earth Day, Earth Day Canada shares inspiring messages and calls to action to protect our planet, each year focusing on a different theme. The Mobilizing Municipalities spokesperson plays a key role in inspiring and mobilizing people and municipalities through projects, initiatives, and events that drive change in line with this theme.

2026 MUNICIPAL SPOKESPERSON

Maxime O. Bourgeois

Message from Maxime O. Bourgeois, Mayor of the Village de Memramcook, New Brunswick, and Municipal Spokesperson for the Earth Day 2026 campaign:

“Protecting our environment requires collective action. Climate and environmental challenges affect us all, which is why the Village de Memramcook constantly strives to play a central role in ongoing efforts. However, it is by working together, with everyone pitching in, that we can take meaningful and sustainable action. Each initiative demonstrates our duty to act. It also reflects our desire to protect our planet for future generations. By supporting local initiatives, whether they be simple gestures or concrete commitments, we are fulfilling our collective responsibility. Together, we are building a healthy and resilient community for future generations.”
