Municipal spokesperson

The Mobilizing Municipalities movement celebrates and supports the towns and cities that take a leading role in the fight for a more sustainable world. Like any movement, Mobilizing Municipalities has a representative to give a voice to municipalities across the country acting to reduce the impacts of climate change.

Each year, one municipality is invited to be the movement’s representative, and its mayor becomes the spokesperson for the movement.

Each year, Earth Day Canada releases a media campaign for Earth Day, focused on a specific theme, aiming to inspire as many people as possible to take action and the Mobilizing Municipalities spokesperson will inspire through projects, initiatives, events that were carried out following the theme of the campaign.

2025 MUNICIPAL SPOKESPERSON

Earth Day Canada is currently looking for its next spokesperson!

Has your municipality made biodiversity a priority and implemented projects or initiatives to preserve or restore it? Join the movement for 2025 and become its spokesperson!

As the movement’s spokesperson, the mayor of your municipality will:

Have a profile on a dedicated page including a photo, a quote and an inspiring video message to address municipalities across Canada;
Have a few biodiversity projects highlighted on the same page;
Be invited to speak about these projects at a conference;
Be able to open your Earth Day celebrations with our ceremonial planting.
