«It is an honour and a privilege to preside over the 2021 Earth Day Banquet, particularly in the context of the current health emergency, which has brought the crucial issue of climate change and environmental protection to the forefront for a more resilient and sustainable society. As Mayor of Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie, I have seen the area become transformed over the past ten years, with citizens increasingly mobilized and driven by the desire to act collectively to provide greener and more humane living environments for themselves that pave the way for an ecological transition that we are all invited to take today to deal with the climate challenges. I am convinced that we must open avenues of collaboration between individuals, political and institutional actors, the world of research and economics, leaderships, and initiatives in order to pool our knowledge, overcome crises and strive for better living for all. So together let’s make Earth Day a turning point in our collective consciousness, because the future lies in our actions today. »
