over 250 million observations have been recorded and 510,000 species identified.

What is a bioblitz?

A Bioblitzis a collective adventure to discover the species that surround us.

For a day or a few hours, citizens, experts and nature enthusiasts join forces to inventory as many species as possible in a given area. A unique opportunity to gain a better understanding of local biodiversity and strengthen our bond with nature!

Why take part?

  • To discover the wealth of life that surrounds us
  • To contribute to science and the protection of biodiversity
  • To have a good time outdoors and learn more about nature

How can you take part in a Bioblitz near you?

If you’d like to try out the experience with your family, friends or on your own, it’s easy!
To record your observations of local flora and fauna:

To take things a step further, why not organize your own Bioblitz?

If you’re a company, a municipality, an organization or a group of citizens, don’t hesitate to take the plunge and organize your own Bioblitz.

THE STEPS IN BRIEF:

🗺 1. Choose a strategic location and date
Choose an accessible natural area: a park, forest, riverside or even an urban neighborhood. Favor a time when biodiversity is active, such as spring or summer, to maximize observations.

👥 2. Mobilize an enthusiastic team
Bring together naturalists, scientists, local associations and curious citizens.

🔎 3. Prepare identification tools
Bring identification guides, binoculars, butterfly nets, magnifying glasses and observation books.
Download the iNaturalist app for easy data collection and recording.

📅 4. Plan activities and structure the event
Divide the site into exploration zones and organize themed workshops such as insect watching, listening to bird songs or studying wild plants.

📊 5. Collect, analyze and share observations
Every species spotted is precious! Encourage participants to photograph and document their finds on iNaturalist. These data will contribute to a better understanding of local biodiversity.
