On April 22, 2020, Earth Day Canada launched its municipal tree planting relay. Planting trees is the perfect way for cities to highlight their dedication to addressing climate change and to reiterate their commitment to sustainability.

In 2020, 18 municipalities from across Canada took part in the planting relay and announced their commitment to plant a total of 1155 trees in honor of Earth Day.
