Earth Day Canada is a non-for-profit organization that was granted, in 1995, the mandate to organize the Canadian component of Earth Day, an international environmental event. In addition to the April 22nd celebration, Earth Day Canada’s mission is to support individuals, organizations, and businesses in their efforts to reduce their environmental impact.
Earth Day Canada is seeking a Waste Management Advisor to join our team as part of the Éco IGA Fund program. Under the supervision of the WM Team Manager, the selected candidate will work with IGA stores in Quebec and New Brunswick to improve their waste management practices through data collection and quality control.
Main responsibilities:
- Reach out to the IGA stores, enter data into the tracking software and support stores with this task (approx. 300 stores);
- Ensure quality control of data through frequent checks and comparisons, including exporting and manipulating data
- Learn and master tracking software (communicate with software company as needed);
- Work closely with the field team to identify areas of concern or improvement and provide timely feedback;
- Stay informed on news related to waste management;
- Participate in other tasks related to the organization, including public awareness at eco-responsible events.
Distribution of working hours:
- 60 % – Phone Calls and Validating Data
- 30 % – Reports and Research
- 10 % – Other Tasks (Events, Kiosks, Conferences…etc.)
Skills and qualifications:
- Interest in waste management and data collection;
- Customer service / Call center experience;
- Willing and comfortable with regular phone calls to pre-existing clients;
- Strong autonomy, proactiveness, energy, interpersonal skills, and resourcefulness;
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools (Advanced Excel)
- Bilingual: French and English (an asset)
Working conditions:
- Salary: based on the current pay scale, between $24/hour and $26/hour
- Start date: April/May 2026
- Location: Hybrid Work – 2 days of Office per week (Montreal: Mile End Location)
- Schedule: 30-37.5 hours/week, based on preference
- Occasional work outside normal hours – evenings and weekends (<10 days/year)
- Contract: Permanent
