Taking Action for Nature

What is the SAIL Grant – Taking Action for Nature?

Launched in 2026, the SAIL Grant – Taking Action for Nature supports projects that showcase and enhance nature. Following a first edition that funded a project in Quebec, the program expands in 2027 with two grants of up to $15,000 each, awarded respectively to one member of Conservation Ontario and one member of the Association des parcs régionaux du Québec (Parq).

Projects must contribute to one or more of the following objectives:

Promote biodiversity
Restore and conserve natural environments
Reduce the impacts of climate change
Educate and raise public awareness about nature
Improve public access to nature

Whether it’s controlling invasive species, reforesting disturbed areas, enhancing a woodlot, creating ecological corridors or developing hiking trails, many types of projects can be supported.

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

Be a member of Conservation Ontario or the Association des parcs régionaux du Québec (Parq)
Manage or operate a park, conservation area or outdoor recreation site that is open to the public
Carry out the project on its own territory, in a location accessible to the public

HOW TO APPLY

Download and complete the application form
Gather the required supporting documents (detailed budget, site photos, maps, etc.)
Submit the completed form and supporting documents to plantation@jourdelaterre.org before the deadline

EVALUATION CRITERIA

Projects will be evaluated based on their impact on nature, feasibility, expected benefits, the organization's capacity to deliver the project, the quality of the planned communications, and the appropriateness of the proposed budget.

TIMELINE

Fall 2026: Call for projects
Winter 2027: Announcement of grant recipients
Spring 2027: Advance payment of 30% of the grant amount
Spring to Fall 2027: Project implementation
Winter 2028: Submission of final report and final grant payment

2026 Recipient

Poisson Blanc Regional Park – $15,000 Grant

The project "Stabilization of eroded shorelines of the Poisson Blanc Reservoir" aims to restore and conserve sections of the reservoir's eroded shoreline through protection and revegetation work. It seeks to slow the erosion caused by water level fluctuations and recreational boating, while preserving riparian habitats and biodiversity.
