2022 Laureates

Maddox Libera, Niagara Falls (ON) - Category 14-18 years

As part of the Mayor Youth Advisory Committee Green subcommittee, Maddox has encouraged his community to adopt environmentally friendly lifestyles and develop an appreciation for nature. Now, he and his team are working on creating a local infant memorial garden that would provide a space for people that have lost infant family members and other community members to sit peacefully and spend time surrounded by nature.

Kehkashan Basu, Toronto (ON) - Category 19-30 years

The vehicle for Kehkashan’s changemaking is the Green Hope Foundation, a social innovation enterprise that she founded at the age of 12. The mission of the foundation is to provide the entire community, especially youth and women, a platform through which they could become environmental stewards. It has allowed her to lead environmental projects and initiatives in Canada, such as environmental cleanups, tree planting activities, an ongoing turtle conservation project, youth education and fieldtrip activities, and conference talks.
