The Trottier Family Foundation Gives
Your Sustainable Mobility Projects Wings
What Are Zero Emission Grants?
From 2023 to 2027, the Trottier Family Foundation is offering grants to support zero-emission electric mobility projects in the province of Quebec. This year, 4 grants of $4,500 will be offered to different groups or organizations that wish to implement initiatives to reduce greenhouse gases.
The purpose of these grants is to:
– support environmental initiatives
– encourage the development of zero emission electric mobility projects
– participate in the reduction of greenhouse gases
– reward creativity in service of the environment
The beneficiaries of the grants can be citizen or student groups, schools, daycares, NPOs or SMEs, as long as their headquarters or activities are across the province of Quebec. This grant will help fund the development of your project by covering the required expenses. Four projects will be rewarded this year.
Applications are now closed.

Carbure Aventure – $4,500 grant
- “Toutes à vélo” is a cycling apprenticeship program by and for women, coordinated in Sherbrooke by Carbure Aventure, an NPO committed to accessibility to the outdoors. Born in Montreal thanks to Vélo Québec, the project offers women the opportunity to learn to pedal in complete safety, free of charge and with guidance. Anchored in an area where the utilitarian use of bicycles by women remains very low, this project is helping to build a more inclusive and sustainable cycling culture in Sherbrooke.

Cyclo Nord-Sud – $4,500 grant
- Cyclo Nord-Sud, a non-profit organization based in Montreal, offers the “Construis ton vélo” project to equip young people aged 15-16 from disadvantaged backgrounds by giving them the opportunity to build their own bike. The program aims to promote autonomy and social inclusion, sustainable mobility in marginalized neighborhoods, environmental awareness via the circular economy, and the development of practical skills.

LocoMotion Sherbrooke – $4,500 grant
- The LocoMotion Sherbrooke project aims to provide the community with two snow removal bicycles, converted from electric or cargo bikes, to enable citizens to clear the snow from downtown bike paths themselves. The project promotes citizen autonomy, active winter transportation and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions.

Petit théâtre du Vieux Noranda – $4,500 grant
-
The Petit Théâtre du Vieux Noranda, a cultural organization with roots in Rouyn-Noranda, is developing a community bicycle workshop within its new Fablab, a creative space combining technological innovation and sustainable development. Accessible to the whole community, this project aims to create a place for sharing, learning and solidarity.

University of Montreal early childhood center – $4,500 grant
- Project aimed at implementing an electric bike loan program within our Early Childhood Center (ECC) to promote sustainable mobility, meet the community’s transportation needs, and encourage behavior change. Through this initiative, families and ECC staff will have easy and affordable access to electric bikes for their daily commutes, including home-to-work trips and family outings.

Les affûtés – $4,500 grant
- Project aimed at acquiring an electric bike and a bike trailer, equipped with a pallet lifting system to deliver various materials between their three branches in Montreal, and to support their circular economy projects.

LocoMotion – $4,500 grant
- Project aimed at expanding the cargo bike service in the borough’s libraries. The libraries play a central role in the social and cultural life of the borough, attracting a wide audience of all ages and backgrounds. By providing a cargo bike for public use, they aim to make this alternative mode of transport more accessible and visible within the community. Users will be able to borrow the cargo bike for free to transport books, purchases, or other items, thereby encouraging the adoption of a more ecological and sustainable mode of transportation.

Vélo-Québec – $4,500 grant
-
Founded in 2021, the “Toutes à vélo” project offers a series of free workshops for women who have never had the opportunity to learn to ride a bike and who wish to develop their skills and confidence to cycle safely and independently. The goal is to teach these women to take their first pedal strokes in a non-judgmental, female-friendly environment and provide them with the necessary resources to overcome barriers to adopting an economical, low-carbon mode of transport. This mode of transport can help mitigate climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions related to mobility.

Cyclo Nord-Sud – 10k grant
- The project is to acquire an electric bicycle and trailer for zero-emission delivery. Cyclo Nord-Sud will use the bike for their Petites roues project, which aims to provide 100 needy children in CDN-NDG and Saint-Michel with a free bike. The aim is to introduce them to cycling, an essential means of sustainable mobility.

GRAME – 10k grant
- The grant will be used to purchase 3 electric bicycles and their maintenance equipment, as part of a pilot project involving 20 households in Lachine. These bicycles will be available on loan to these households, to encourage and promote the adoption of alternative transport behaviours to the solo car. After the pilot project, the bikes will also be made available to other Lachine residents, organizations, etc. They could also be used to help with tree planting as part of GRAME projects.
